windows 8: tips/tricks etc?

Hello all:
I started using windows 8 on a surface pro II. I'm curious if anyone has any tips and tricks. It seems easy enough to figure out, but I'd like to start using some of the social stuff. Is there a way with jaws to move by group/rearrange?
Finally, a more pressing issue: I installed dropbox and am unable to hit shift+f10 on the notification button. I have no way of seeing what the dropbox download is or if it's even working. Any ideas there would be awesome. Previously with windows 7 you could customize this, but apparently no longer.
